Cucaro painted memory in many dialects. Sometimes memory appeared as faces worn by time; sometimes as crowds bound by ritual; sometimes as landscapes shaped by labor; and sometimes as pure color and gesture, where emotion spoke more eloquently than representation.
That's a compelling way to understand an artist whose work ranges from expressionistic portraiture to lyrical abstraction without ever losing its humanity.
